Forgetting the Past

Lighthouse Daily Devotional Wednesday, 10th September, 2025 Topic: Forgetting the Past Text: Philippians 3:13 "Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before" Several of us didn't have any perfect past before meeting Christ. The truth is that no matter how good or bad our past life was before Christ, it is nothing to be compared to the surpassing glory we have now in Christ Jesus. "For even that which was made glorious had no glory in this respect, by reason of the glory that excelleth" 2 Corinthians 3:10 It is important that we recognize and acknowledge that the past has passed. It is no longer in existence. God has moved you beyond that experience. He has brought into a whole new experience in Christ Jesus. You can't walk in the fullness of this new life if you don't let go of the old. There is no one who drives a car forward look...

Much More Grace

Topic: Much More Grace

Text: Romans 5:17

"For if by one man's offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ."

What God has done for us in Christ Jesus can never be compared to the sinful nature in man and our shortcomings. It is far greater in value than all our good works combined. This is why it is called Grace. Dr. David Ogbueli once defined Grace as "God's Riches at Christ's Expense." In Christ Jesus, God lavishly pours out His mercy, kindness, and love upon man.

Man is accepted before God on the basis of what Jesus has done. We gain entrance into the Holy of Holies through the blood of Christ. We are accepted in the Beloved because of His work for us on the cross. This is a crucial point to note in our Christian journey. We can never deserve the grace of God. Even the best of man's efforts always fall short. God accepts us ONLY in Christ. The enemy might try to guilt-trip you because of your past or present failures, but you must always remember that your acceptance comes from believing in what Jesus has done for you on the cross.

God grants us abundant mercy for our sins. No one forgives like God. His mercies are new every morning. The worst sinner can be forgiven. No sin is greater than the blood of Jesus. You don’t need to remain in the guilt of your sin when there is a fountain flowing from Calvary for your sake. This fountain can cleanse you much more than you can ever imagine.

God also grants much more grace to live for Him. The grace of God does not leave us as captives to sin. Instead, it empowers us to live above sin and say no to ungodliness.

Titus 2:11-12

"For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world."

While we receive pardon for our sins, we must also learn to obey the Spirit of Grace. The Holy Spirit dwelling in us is the presence of God's grace at work in our lives. He brings both comfort and correction. His comfort ensures that the guilt of sin does not overpower us when we repent, and His correction helps us break free from the dominion of sin. We have a responsibility to accept both expressions of God's grace, which will never cease to reach out to us.

So, dearly beloved, do not give up on yourself. God's grace toward you is abundant. It clears your sinful records and cleanses you from sinfulness.

It is the grace of God that enables a man to reign in life. No matter what has overpowered and enslaved you, God's grace empowers you to gain victory and reign over such circumstances. No sin should have dominion over you. As you receive grace daily at the throne of Grace, you are empowered to overcome your weaknesses. Even when you fail, do not stop coming to receive God's mercy and strength to help you rise above your infirmities.

Hebrews 4:16 says:

Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.

God's manifold grace is available for you today. Receive it by faith.

Action Plan: Receive God's abundant grace for you.

Prayer Point: Dear Lord, I receive Your abundant grace for me today and always. Amen.

Have a grace-filled day!
