Forgetting the Past

Lighthouse Daily Devotional Wednesday, 10th September, 2025 Topic: Forgetting the Past Text: Philippians 3:13 "Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before" Several of us didn't have any perfect past before meeting Christ. The truth is that no matter how good or bad our past life was before Christ, it is nothing to be compared to the surpassing glory we have now in Christ Jesus. "For even that which was made glorious had no glory in this respect, by reason of the glory that excelleth" 2 Corinthians 3:10 It is important that we recognize and acknowledge that the past has passed. It is no longer in existence. God has moved you beyond that experience. He has brought into a whole new experience in Christ Jesus. You can't walk in the fullness of this new life if you don't let go of the old. There is no one who drives a car forward look...

Only Believe!

Topic: Only Believe!
Text: Mark 5:35-36 KJV

While he yet spake, there came from the ruler of the synagogue's house certain which said, Thy daughter is dead: why troublest thou the Master any further?
As soon as Jesus heard the word that was spoken, he saith unto the ruler of the synagogue, Be not afraid, only believe.

Our world is driven by information that inspires fear and uncertainty. Read the dailies, listen to news reports on television or hear people converse about things happening around, you will only get more reasons for your fears to intensify.

When you hear medical experts talk about new sicknesses that they're discovering in their field of work, the symptoms associated with them and how people can easily get infected with one bacteria or the other, you wonder if anyone is really safe out there!

Information is good, but we must learn to sieve everything we hear in the light of the word of God. Our safety is not only assured by what we hear, but by what and who we believe. Faith is a powerful shield against all fiery darts of the wicked. Your faith is your defense system.

Ephesians 6:16
Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.

Like the ruler of the synagogue, we might have sincere people around us who feed us with true information about the realities of things around us. Our parents and loved ones might sincerely tell us the situation of things at home. Doctors may even tell you your medical condition with all sincerity, compassion, and love.

Some of them might end on the tone of finality. In fact, some would say, "Put your house in order. There is no need to do anything further. You have come to the end of the road."

With Jesus, there is no end of the road. The end of the road will turn to a bend into His mercies and miracles. When men says it is over for you, God's grace carries you over the obstacles.

What is the Lord's word of caution to us? Do not be afraid! Don't allow their words sow the seeds of fear and doubt in your heart.  Don't begin to quietly doubt what God said to you because of what you have heard or seen.

Believe the word of God over every report or information around you. Find the Word of God concerning that situation, and stay with it. Allow it to saturate your heart with faith.

Be rest assured that you are coming out a victor. God's word will never fail.

Action Point: Turn your fears to expressions of faith by declaring what God has said in His word.

Prayer Point: Lord, I believe your word over my fears.

Have a blessed day!
