Forgetting the Past

Lighthouse Daily Devotional Wednesday, 10th September, 2025 Topic: Forgetting the Past Text: Philippians 3:13 "Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before" Several of us didn't have any perfect past before meeting Christ. The truth is that no matter how good or bad our past life was before Christ, it is nothing to be compared to the surpassing glory we have now in Christ Jesus. "For even that which was made glorious had no glory in this respect, by reason of the glory that excelleth" 2 Corinthians 3:10 It is important that we recognize and acknowledge that the past has passed. It is no longer in existence. God has moved you beyond that experience. He has brought into a whole new experience in Christ Jesus. You can't walk in the fullness of this new life if you don't let go of the old. There is no one who drives a car forward look...

Wealth from God's Perspective

Topic: Wealth from God's Perspective

Text: Luke 12:21

"So is he that layeth up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God."

Many people define wealth solely in material terms. To them, a wealthy person is someone who owns vast lands, mansions, oil wells, fleets of cars, and other visible possessions. The Bible, however, refers to these things as the kingdoms of the world and their glory (Matthew 4:8).

Yet, this is not how God defines wealth. In His eyes, wealth is not measured by what a person physically possesses.

Luke 12:15

"And he said unto them, Take heed, and beware of covetousness: for a man's life consisteth not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth."

True wealth, according to God, begins with a deep and meaningful relationship with Him. A truly wealthy person is one who possesses God and delights in Him.

Consider Adam—before his fall, he was the wealthiest man on earth. He had dominion over the world and lived in a garden filled with God's best (Genesis 2:12). Yet, his true wealth was found in his relationship with God. The moment he lost that relationship, he lost everything. Today, many "Adams" (mankind) may own the riches of the earth, yet they remain wretched and empty because they lack a relationship with God.

A truly wealthy person is one who is rich toward God. So, as you strive to acquire riches and work tirelessly to build wealth, ask yourself: What is the state of my relationship with God? Is it thriving, or is it merely a routine religious practice?

From God's perspective, true wealth begins with a rich relationship with Him through His Son, Jesus Christ. Do you have that relationship, or are you simply playing religion?

Material wealth can satisfy your flesh and earthly desires, but only Jesus Christ can truly satisfy your entire being—spirit, soul, and body.

Action Plan:

Come to Jesus Christ today and experience true wealth.

Your day is blessed in Jesus' name.

  1. This article beautifully highlights the stark contrast between the world's definition of wealth and God's perspective on true riches. As you so aptly pointed out, Luke 12:21 reminds us that laying up treasure for ourselves, without being rich toward God, is a misguided pursuit.

The Bible indeed teaches that true wealth is not measured by material possessions, but by our relationship with God. As Psalm 119:14 says, " *I have rejoiced in the way of Your testimonies, as much as in all riches."*

Moreover, 1 Timothy 6:6-7 emphasizes that " *godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out."* This echoes the sentiment that true wealth is found in our connection with God, not in accumulating earthly riches.

I equally appreciate how you referenced Adam's story. Before his fall, Adam's wealth was indeed rooted in his intimate relationship with God. As Psalm 16:11 says, " *You will show me the path of life; in Your presence is fullness of joy; at Your right hand are pleasures forevermore."*

Ultimately, as you so eloquently stated, true wealth begins with a rich relationship with God through Jesus Christ. May we, as believers, continually seek to cultivate this relationship and store up treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not corrupt (Matthew 6:20). 🙏
