Forgetting the Past

Lighthouse Daily Devotional Wednesday, 10th September, 2025 Topic: Forgetting the Past Text: Philippians 3:13 "Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before" Several of us didn't have any perfect past before meeting Christ. The truth is that no matter how good or bad our past life was before Christ, it is nothing to be compared to the surpassing glory we have now in Christ Jesus. "For even that which was made glorious had no glory in this respect, by reason of the glory that excelleth" 2 Corinthians 3:10 It is important that we recognize and acknowledge that the past has passed. It is no longer in existence. God has moved you beyond that experience. He has brought into a whole new experience in Christ Jesus. You can't walk in the fullness of this new life if you don't let go of the old. There is no one who drives a car forward look...

Topic: Keys to the Wealthy Place: Divine Dealings

Text: Matthew 3:15

"And Jesus answering said unto him, Suffer it to be so now: for thus it becometh us to fulfil all righteousness. Then he suffered him."

Divine dealings refer to experiences of self-denial and pruning that God subjects a person to, specific to His plan and calling for that individual. While we are all children of God, He has assigned different tasks to each of us. With these assignments come necessary preparations and processes designed to make us fit for His purpose.

The essence of divine dealings is to refine us by removing excesses and lusts—weights that could slow us down or even completely hinder us from fulfilling God's plans and purposes. In His love, God disciplines us to help shed these weights. We must remember that these divine disciplines come from a place of love and are meant for our ultimate good.

Divine dealings are never pleasant experiences. It is easy to talk about them but difficult to endure. During these times, some may even feel despair and begin to think that God has abandoned them. But He has not. He is merely working to bring out the best in us. Gold, in its raw form, has no beauty, but when refined by fire, it becomes desirable. Similarly, our lives will have little impact unless we undergo God’s refining process.

One crucial thing to keep in mind during this process is that God deals with each of us differently, yet with the same end goal—righteousness. Therefore, do not compare God’s instructions for your life with those given to someone else. What is permissible for another may not be permissible for you. As 1 Corinthians 6:12 says, "All things are lawful for me, but not all things are expedient." In other words, not everything that is lawful is beneficial or necessary for you.

Identify the things that are not expedient for your life based on God’s instructions, and submit yourself to His discipline. These divine boundaries serve as walls of defense for your ministry and walk with God. If you allow these walls to collapse, your spiritual journey will suffer great loss.

The ultimate goal of divine dealings is righteousness. Though the path God takes us on may vary, it is always meant to produce righteousness in us. Any dealing that does not cultivate righteousness is not from God; it could be self-imposed or even from the enemy.

Action Plan: Submit yourself under the mighty hand of God, and He will lift you up in due time (1 Peter 5:6).

Prayer Point: Lord, help me to submit myself to Your divine dealings for my life.
