Forgetting the Past

Lighthouse Daily Devotional Wednesday, 10th September, 2025 Topic: Forgetting the Past Text: Philippians 3:13 "Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before" Several of us didn't have any perfect past before meeting Christ. The truth is that no matter how good or bad our past life was before Christ, it is nothing to be compared to the surpassing glory we have now in Christ Jesus. "For even that which was made glorious had no glory in this respect, by reason of the glory that excelleth" 2 Corinthians 3:10 It is important that we recognize and acknowledge that the past has passed. It is no longer in existence. God has moved you beyond that experience. He has brought into a whole new experience in Christ Jesus. You can't walk in the fullness of this new life if you don't let go of the old. There is no one who drives a car forward look...

Topic: Divine Attention

Text: Isaiah 66:2

"For all those things hath Mine hand made, and all those things have been,” saith the Lord. “But to this man will I look: even to him that is poor and of a contrite spirit, and trembleth at My word."

God relates with us based on the condition and posture of our hearts. While our actions matter, the motives behind them are even more important

Today, many preachers have replaced the truth of God's Word with lies. They deceive their members into believing that giving large offerings or "sowing" big seeds into the church account will secure them a special position before God. As a result, people engage in acts of generosity without examining their hearts and lives before Him.

However, God has already declared in His Word the kind of person who attracts His attention. From our Bible text, such a person must have the right heart and attitude toward God and His ways.

A person who is poor in spirit is humble, recognizing his dependence on God. He does not approach the throne of grace based on his own merits but through the grace found in Christ Jesus.

A contrite heart is a repentant heart—one that acknowledges its sins before God and seeks His mercy. This is someone who mourns over his wrongdoings and desires restoration.

God does not take lightly those who despise His Word. He does not honor those who disregard His truth. How do you treat the Word of God? Do you see it as just another religious writing, or do you recognize it as divine instruction? Do you listen to it today only to forget it tomorrow?

If your heart does not reflect these qualities, you may struggle to attract God's attention.

Reflection

What is the state of your heart before God? Does it align with these characteristics? If not, cry out to God for help today and ask Him to transform your heart.

Prayer Point

Lord, help me to maintain a heart posture of humility, reverence, and honor toward You and Your Word. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Ensure you go to church. Happy Sunday, and God bless you!
