Forgetting the Past

Lighthouse Daily Devotional Wednesday, 10th September, 2025 Topic: Forgetting the Past Text: Philippians 3:13 "Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before" Several of us didn't have any perfect past before meeting Christ. The truth is that no matter how good or bad our past life was before Christ, it is nothing to be compared to the surpassing glory we have now in Christ Jesus. "For even that which was made glorious had no glory in this respect, by reason of the glory that excelleth" 2 Corinthians 3:10 It is important that we recognize and acknowledge that the past has passed. It is no longer in existence. God has moved you beyond that experience. He has brought into a whole new experience in Christ Jesus. You can't walk in the fullness of this new life if you don't let go of the old. There is no one who drives a car forward look...

The Counsel of the Lord

 Light Daily Devotional

3rd September, 2025
Topic: The Counsel of the Lord
Text: Jeremiah 23:18 (KJV)

"For who hath stood in the counsel of the LORD, and hath perceived and heard his word? who hath marked his word, and heard it?"

The word of God is not scarce as many would think it is. The word of God is found when men learn to assume the right spiritual posture to hear God. God desires to unburden His heart to the willing heart who draws close to Him through intimacy.

God doesn't want you to be in the dark or ignorant about what He wants to do in your life. God wants you to know His will regarding every area of your life, but you must learn how to stand before the counsel of the Lord.

The counsel of the Lord is the presence of God. It is a place of fellowship and intimacy with the Spirit of God. It is where we fellowship with God through His word.

You can learn to do that by creating time for fellowship with God. You shouldn't be too busy for God. At least, you can spare 30 minutes to one hour every morning or in the evening to spend time with God.

You must also remember to come with an active and obedient ear to hear. Don't come to hear passively. Come and hear with the heart to obey Him.

When you do this every day, you will be able to perceive the counsel of God over every given issue in your life. You don't need to be hopping from one prophet or the other seeking the counsel of God. God can even speak to you concerning others as he spoke to Samuel because Samuel has learnt how to spend time before God.

And the LORD appeared again in Shiloh: for the LORD revealed himself to Samuel in Shiloh by the word of the LORD.
1 Samuel 3:21(KJV)

You might not be used to this l, but can learn it. As you daily respond to the call of the Spirit of God to intimacy, you will grow and learn how to stand before the counsel.

Action Point: Learn to stand before the counsel of the Lord through spending time with Him.

Prayer Point: I receive Grace to stand before the counsel of God.

God bless you!
