Forgetting the Past

Lighthouse Daily Devotional Wednesday, 10th September, 2025 Topic: Forgetting the Past Text: Philippians 3:13 "Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before" Several of us didn't have any perfect past before meeting Christ. The truth is that no matter how good or bad our past life was before Christ, it is nothing to be compared to the surpassing glory we have now in Christ Jesus. "For even that which was made glorious had no glory in this respect, by reason of the glory that excelleth" 2 Corinthians 3:10 It is important that we recognize and acknowledge that the past has passed. It is no longer in existence. God has moved you beyond that experience. He has brought into a whole new experience in Christ Jesus. You can't walk in the fullness of this new life if you don't let go of the old. There is no one who drives a car forward look...

If Any of You Lack Wisdom

 Lighthouse Daily Devotional

Topic: If Any of You Lack Wisdom
Text: James
1:5KJV

If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.

The primacy of wisdom in living a successful and peaceful life can never be overemphasized. Wisdom has been defined by many as the right application of right knowledge. A lot of people are suffering today because they're ignorant of the truth that will deliver them. Certain others suffer because they know so much but do little with it. What you do with what you hear and know defines whether you are wise or foolish.

Wisdom is what distinguishes the great from the ordinary men. It is what distinguishes the excellent from the mediocre; the diligent from the lazy.

The Bible underscores the importance of wisdom for every aspect of human life.

"Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom..."
Proverbs 4:7

Wisdom is the principal thing for success in your life, marriage, business, academics, etc. Your success is determined by how much you leverage on the body of Godly wisdom available for you in these areas. If you despise wisdom, you will be the one to suffer for it.

The wisdom of God is superior to human wisdom. It is not bound by the limitations of our humanity. It has both earthly and eternal benefits.

Many people claim to have wisdom, but it doesn't tend to righteousness. Such wisdom is evil and doesn't come from above. The wisdom from above is pure and have divine qualities.

James 3:17
But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy.

God knows that some of us can be deficient in wisdom. Maybe due to our upbringing, exposure, mindsets and context. Hence, he invites us to seek for it. Godly wisdom is available. Go for it. It won't fall on your head just like that. It is found primarily in the Bible, in quality Christian books, and other books written by professionals in your desired field of life.

For every area that you're deficient in knowledge, there is a body of wisdom available for you. Do not keep quiet and die in your ignorance. Ask God,  and if need be, ask men that have already assessed the wisdom of God.

Go for wisdom today!

Action Point: Identify the area that you're deficient in knowledge and seek godly wisdom through edifying books and godly counsel.

Prayer point: Ask God to grant you wisdom in the area that you're deficient, and lead you to the right resource that can equip you with wisdom.

I wish you a blessed week. Amen.
