Forgetting the Past

Lighthouse Daily Devotional Wednesday, 10th September, 2025 Topic: Forgetting the Past Text: Philippians 3:13 "Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before" Several of us didn't have any perfect past before meeting Christ. The truth is that no matter how good or bad our past life was before Christ, it is nothing to be compared to the surpassing glory we have now in Christ Jesus. "For even that which was made glorious had no glory in this respect, by reason of the glory that excelleth" 2 Corinthians 3:10 It is important that we recognize and acknowledge that the past has passed. It is no longer in existence. God has moved you beyond that experience. He has brought into a whole new experience in Christ Jesus. You can't walk in the fullness of this new life if you don't let go of the old. There is no one who drives a car forward look...

Receive Ye Power!

 Lighthouse Daily Devotional

Topic: Receive Power

Text: Acts 1:8 (KJV)
“But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.”

God never intended for us to live the Christian life without power. Every form of life draws strength from its source. Without that power, life becomes difficult—even impossible. Our new life in Christ is sustained by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Many of our struggles as Christians stem from our ignorance of the presence and power of the Holy Spirit. We often try to grow spiritually by relying on our own strength. Yet, our journey of salvation began through the work of the Holy Spirit and must continue through His work in us. While we acknowledge that it was the Spirit who brought us to the truth of the Gospel, many of us fall into the trap of trying to live out our faith through sheer effort.

Galatians 3:3 (KJV)
"Are ye so foolish? having begun in the Spirit, are ye now made perfect by the flesh?"

Paul, by the Spirit, calls this foolishness. It is unwise to depend on God to start the work of salvation in your heart, only to then neglect Him and try to help yourself. You cannot help God.

Our Christian witness goes beyond preaching the Gospel. It encompasses every aspect of our lives—our speech, thoughts, actions, lifestyle, attitude toward others, and even our work. All these reflect our witness, and we need the Holy Spirit’s power to truly live it out.

God didn’t give us the Holy Spirit just to help us preach. He gave us the Spirit to guide, lead, and empower every part of our lives as His children.

Stop struggling and trying to be good in your own strength. Instead, trust and surrender to the Holy Spirit. Your responsibility is simple: obey His promptings. The more you yield in obedience, the more He works in you. He has all the power you need to live a victorious and effective Christian life.

Action Plan:
Surrender to the Holy Spirit and receive His power. Stop striving—just surrender!

Prayer Point:
Holy Spirit of the Lord, I surrender to You. Have Your way in me.

Have a beautiful day!
