Forgetting the Past

Lighthouse Daily Devotional Wednesday, 10th September, 2025 Topic: Forgetting the Past Text: Philippians 3:13 "Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before" Several of us didn't have any perfect past before meeting Christ. The truth is that no matter how good or bad our past life was before Christ, it is nothing to be compared to the surpassing glory we have now in Christ Jesus. "For even that which was made glorious had no glory in this respect, by reason of the glory that excelleth" 2 Corinthians 3:10 It is important that we recognize and acknowledge that the past has passed. It is no longer in existence. God has moved you beyond that experience. He has brought into a whole new experience in Christ Jesus. You can't walk in the fullness of this new life if you don't let go of the old. There is no one who drives a car forward look...

Overwhelming Peace

 Lighthouse Daily Devotional

Topic: Overwhelming Peace
Text: John 16:33

"These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world."

As believers, our peace of mind is not rooted in anything this world has to offer. Seeking peace outside of Christ is a futile pursuit. Nothing in this world can give true and lasting peace like a wholesome relationship with God.

When you watch the news, the headlines are often filled with fear-inducing reports—bombings, killings, security threats, terrorist attacks, pandemics, economic instability, and more. Every day brings fresh reasons to be anxious.

Clearly, our peace does not come from this world. Even the peace that comes from material possessions or social status is fleeting. It fades as quickly as it comes.

Looking for peace in entertainment or sensual pleasures—sex, food, alcohol, drugs, or partying—will only leave you feeling empty and unsatisfied. In the end, you may come to despise those indulgences.

True and lasting peace is found in a relationship with God through Christ Jesus. When we truly know Jesus, we experience a peace that surpasses all understanding—something the pleasures of this world can never provide.

Let me also encourage you to keep your mind fixed on the Word of God at all times. No matter the negative news around you, God promises perfect peace to those whose minds are stayed on Him.

Isaiah 26:3
"Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee."

Action Plan: Keep your mind focused on the Word of God. Draw your peace from Christ Jesus.

Prayer Point: Lord, help me keep my mind on You.
