Keys to the Wealthy Place - Living by the Word of God
Lighthouse Daily Devotional
1 April, 2025
Topic: Keys to the Wealthy Place – Living by the Word of God
Text: Matthew 4:4 (KJV)
"But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God."
Man was created by God to live, not merely to exist. Life becomes peaceful and fulfilling when we begin to truly live rather than just survive. To exist means to focus solely on daily bread and physical sustenance without an eternal purpose. However, God designed us for eternity and His divine purpose. You are only truly living when your life is aligned with God’s eternal plan. Are you living or merely existing?
God knows exactly what we need to live for Him, and that is His Word in our hearts. Many people today strive to live by accumulating material possessions—they buy lands, build houses, purchase expensive jewelry and designer clothes, and indulge in worldly pleasures. Yet, despite acquiring all these things, they often feel empty and frustrated. Some even reach the point of despair and take their own lives.
However, none of these flashy things can truly satisfy. God created humanity with a void that only He can fill. Without the Word of God planted in our hearts, our lives become empty and hopeless. Take a moment to reflect: What fills your heart right now? Is it the Word of God or the distractions of this world?
Colossians 3:16 (KJV)
"Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord."
To step into your wealthy place in God, you must learn to live by His Word. God sustains all creation by His Word, and He will sustain you in the same way. The Word of God should be your ultimate reality. Challenges and unfavorable situations will arise, but you must remain conscious of God's truth and see your reality through the lens of His Word.
Bread represents man's efforts to meet his needs, while manna symbolizes God's provision through His Word. While it is necessary to work for your daily bread, it is even more important to live by the Word of God. Bread can fail, but God's Word remains victorious in every season.
What are you living for—God or bread?
Action Plan: Decide today to live for God.
Prayer Point: Lord, help me to live for You and by Your Word every day.
Happy New Month! Welcome to April—Mount up by the Spirit of God!
